Menkes announces LEED certification of 8205 Parkhill Drive

TORONTO, ON (May 10, 2023) - Menkes Developments Ltd (Menkes) announced today that 8205 Parkhill Drive in Milton achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) and U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). The property achieved LEEDv4 under the Building Design and Construction: Core and Shell Development rating system, the Company’s first industrial property to become LEED certified, further reinforcing its long-standing commitment to building high-quality and sustainable properties.

Located in Milton, Ontario, 8205 Parkhill Drive is a single-storey, state-of-the-art building designed for industrial/warehouse uses. The project was developed with an emphasis on both functionality and sustainability.

Among the elements that contributed to the property’s LEED certification, the CaGBC considered:

Drought-tolerant plant material to reduce irrigation needs by 65%, paired with efficient WaterSense irrigation controls.

 

Improved lighting power density, enhanced building envelope and efficient heating ventilators

Responsibly extracted building materials and polyisocyanurate insulation for the roof and walls.

As a result of the building’s innovative design and thoughtful approach to sustainability, it achieved significant reductions in energy and water including: decreasing outdoor potable use water by 65%, a reduction of 16% in annual energy costs, and diverting 79% of waste from landfills.
