Sugar Wharf is Transforming Before Our Eyes

Here’s the latest construction update for the waterfront’s largest mixed-use project

These challenging times have left many uncertain about so many aspects of their lives, but Sugar Wharf’s future homeowners can take comfort in knowing that our construction team has continued to work effectively on their new home. During this unprecedented time, they have had the unique challenge of working all while allowing for physical distancing and enforcing the strictest safety and sanitation measures.

This exciting mixed-use development will encompass five residential towers once complete, as well as a mid-rise rental building. The site will also include 100 Queens Quay East, a landmark 25-storey office tower, with a flagship LCBO as the anchor retail tenant, and a two-acre public park.

To date, we have poured almost 46,000 m3 of concrete and 7,800 tonnes of steel. To put this in perspective, that equates to four complete 20-storey buildings.

The office component was the first of the development to begin construction. This tower now stands tall in the southeast corner of the site, with forming currently reaching as high as the 20th floor, leaving just five floors to make it complete.

We are in the process of completing the structure on the third and fourth floors of the east residential tower. This floor represents the shared amenity floor for all the condo buildings, and will be the first tower for occupancy, which is scheduled for Spring 2022. This summer, we will begin to install windows for the ground floor retail and second floor commercial space.

We are also currently pouring concrete for the rental building, which is located in northwest portion of the site. We have completed the concrete structure for the west tower parking garage, and ground floor loading dock and lobby.

We are pleased to share that we’re on schedule to start installing windows on the ground floor condo lobby and rental building suites this summer.

Stay tuned to our social channels as well as the blog, as we continue to share progress with you.
