Harbour Plaza & One York Update
April 25, 2016
Spring is here and as the temperature climbs, so are the Harbour Plaza towers in Toronto’s South Core. A trip down to Toronto’s Harbourfront or Union Station will show the East and West towers taking an iconic place in Downtown Toronto’s changing skyline. Once finished, Harbour Plaza will be among the tallest buildings in the area, rising 69 and 65 storeys respectively.
Our construction team has been working hard over the winter and we are now pouring the 47th floor in both towers. The eye-catching strategically staggered white balconies aren’t far behind and we already have windows in place up to the 39th floor. Since we have crossed the halfway point to reach the top of both buildings, interior work has started on the lower floors. Drywall and tiling has begun, and the kitchen cabinetry for the suites will be arriving on site any day now. We’re excited to be just over a year away from occupancies, which we anticipate beginning in May 2017.
As you can see from the above photos, both the Harbour Plaza East & West towers are at the same height as the neighbouring office tower, One York. One York is nearing completion and almost ready for the first office tenant to move in this fall. The construction team is working on building finishes at the moment and preparing to complete the shell this June. The bold exterior signage went up earlier this month – check out our video to see the process!
All of the office tenants should be moved in by the end of 2017 at which point the retail should be occupied and open as well. Once the office tower is complete, an estimated 5,000 people will call One York their place of work, adding even more vibrancy to the thriving South Core Financial District.
